Maggie Kay has over 20 years of experience as a manual therapist. Maggie initially trained as a massage therapist in San Diego California in 1999, then went through the RMT program at WCCMT again graduating in 2015 and gaining RMT registration in BC. Her journey has taken her from training and clinical massage therapy practise in San Diego California for 5 years and 11 years working as a spa therapist at five star resorts in BC. After gaining RMT regsitration in 2015, Maggie spent seven years working as an RMT at Mandala Center for Health and Wellness. However Maggie always held the dream of running her own home based bussiness, and after one transitional year contracting at the Vitality Clinic in Colwood, the dream finally presented and opportunity.
It is with great pride and pleasure that Maggie has opened her own clinic Sacred Fire Massage Therapy and Healing Retreat. This is the vision that Maggie has held for years, Maggie has a strong interest in supporting women in all aspects of life transitions such as motherhood, menopausal changes as well as adolescence. It is in the spirit of this interest , born out of her own experience navigating life through some of these transitions herself ,that the vision for Sacred Fire was born. Maggie has experience in treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal issues. She approaches therapy in a non-judgemental compassionate way for all genders and ages. Her first priority focus always begins with down regulating the nervous system. Maggie has found that this is an important first step to assist with any issue, regardless of depth of pressure needed in the treatment or modality used. Maggie has trained in many different therapeutic approaches over the years, and more recently has taken extended training in Upledger Craniosacral Therapy between 2017-2018 completing her first two levels of intensive training in this modality. She often adds elements of this therapeutic approach into her treatments as requested.Good communication and safe client centered care is her priority in all
She will continue to provide therapy for existing clients as well as welcome new clients who are seeking massage therapy..
In her spare time Maggie can be found spending time in nature with her beloved husband and twelve year old son, or teaching Aikido, the martial art she has practised for the past 32 years.
